Bruce A. Cegur

Mr. Cegur is a self-taught artist. He learned the basics of formal art education
from his late high school teacher Raymond Ball, where he received the Schubkegel
art award for artistic achievement. Over the past two decades, Mr. Cegur
has participating in several shows, including "21st Annual Alice & Arthur
Bauer Art Competition," at the Beverly Art Center, "54th, 53rd, 52nd, 51st,
49th and 47th Annual Salon Shows," Northern Indiana Arts Association: "Making
Statements;' Valparaiso University Museum: "Reality Bytes-A One Man Retrospective,"
the Center for Visual and Performing Arts; and "Florals," The Chicago Botanic
Garden. He has also served on the board of the N.I.A.A. and as Chair, of
the N.I.A.A. Exhibit Committee. His South Shore paintings include "Windsurfing
on Wolf Lake," "Lakefront Park" and "Winning."
Susan
Holton (Click

After graduating from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD, in classical
liberal studies, Miss Holton worked in her parent's communications firm
as an artist and graphic designer for two years. She then attended the
American Academy of Art in Chicago, graduating in degrees in both Fine
and Graphic Arts. She then worked five years in advertising, followed
by five years in freelancing as an art director, illustrator, handlettering
artist and calligrapher. Now a graphic designer and illustrator for Tribune
Media Services, the syndicate branch of the Tribune Company, Ms. Holton,
a resident of Chicago, is a contributing artist to the South Shore Campaign.
Her works include "Fit for Life," with other paintings planned.
Neil
J. Kienitz

Mr. Kienitz is a self-taught artist. His subject matter includes character
studies, landscapes, and still life. The Michigan City resident produces
primarily water color works, but also incorporates gouache, pastel, stabilo
pencil and colored pencil into his paintings. He describes his style as
"romantic impressionism," often using representational forms within an
abstract design. He has participated in 21 one man shows, and has participated
in over 200 art fairs. Among his awards, he has twice received the Midwest
Watercolor Society's Award of Excellence. His works have been exhibited
in such collections as Amoco, Wausau Insurance Co., Borg Warner Corp.,
and Marshall Field Co. His current contribution to the Millennium South
Shore series is the painting entitled, "Michigan City" as well as
"Friendship Gardens" , "International Port of Indiana"
and Millenium Plaza.
Alan Larkin
Mr. Larkin is associate professor, Fine Arts, at the Indiana University
South Bend. He received his Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking in 1977,
from Pennsylvania State University, and his B.A. in studio arts from Carolton
College. A resident of South Bend, he has exhibited widely throughout
the Midwest. His recent awards include Best of Show, 21st Annual Exhibitation,
Indiana Heritage Arts, Nashville, 1999; Best of Show, for the 75th Annual
Hoosier Salon Exhibit, the Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis,1999; and
the Warrick and Boyn Purchase Award, 20th Elkhart Juried Regional Midwest
Museum of Art, Elkhart, 1998; and the Purchase Award Indiana State Museum
& Excellence in Presentation Award, 74th Annual Hoosier Salon Exhibit,
Indiana State Museum, in 1998. The award-winning artist has participated
in more than 100 exhibitions. His South Shore Millennium paintings include
"Neighboring Sentinel," "Purdue Calumet," and "Purdue North Central."
Mitch Markovitz

As an artist and member of the founding committee of the Millennium South
Shore Project Mr. Markovitz studied oil painting and fine art at the University
of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. A resident of Northwest Indiana, he also attended
the Chicago Academy of Fine Art in commercial illustration and the American
Academy of Art in figure drawing and illustration. He has exhibited in
Chicago, New York, and Indiana, and has served as the artist and commercial
illustrator for the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District.
He helped author "Moonlight in Duneland" published by Indiana University
Press containing 38 of the original South Shore posters from the 1920's,
plus five of the Millennium paintings, which include his works, "Just
Around the Corner," "Recreation" and "Neighboring South Shore."
Alice Phillips
Ms. Phillips is a resident of Highland, IN, and a graduate of the American
Academy of Art. Her group exhibitions include the Pastel Society of America
New York City; the Midwest Pastel Society, Schaumburg; the Art Institute
of Chicago; Valparaiso University Museum of Art; the Municipal Art League
of Chicago and the Northern Indiana Arts Assocation, Munster. Recent awards
include the Joseph V. Fugguai Award, Pastel Society of America, New York,
1999, and the Midwest Pastel Society, Nation Juried Show - Award of Excellence,
1998, and the Award of Distinction, 1997. Her South Shore painting, "Hoosier
Prairie" was included in "Moonlight in Duneland" by Indiana University
Press.
John
Rush (Click for

Mr. Rush has done commissions for National Geographic Magazine and the
U.S. National Parks Service. His work has appeared in several major arts
publications, including the Society of Illustrators Annual, the American
Illustration Annual, and Communications Arts, Print and Graphis magazines.
His art has been exhibited in Hong Kong, the nation's parks and throughout
the U.S. at various galleries and in the Society of Illustrators traveling
shows. Born in Indianapolis in 1948, he graduated from the University
of Cincinnati with a B.A. in Industrial Design, and later graduated from
Art Center College with a degree in illustration. A resident of Evanston,
his awards include Gold Medals from the Society of Illustrators and the
Spectrum Illustration Annual. His painting, "Strength and Beauty" appeared
in "Moonlight in Duneland" by Indiana University Press. His South Shore
paintings also include "Vintage Base Ball," and "Independence."
Fred Semmler
Mr. Semmler received his formal education from Loyola University and the
American Academy of Art. Specializing in water color, his commercial experience
has included men's and children fashion illustration, package, billboard
poster, corporate and association communications design and cover illustration.
His South Shore paintings include "The Dunes Beaches," "America's Crossroads,"
and "Life's Seasons." Now a resident of Beverly Shores, his clients include
the American Bar Association, the American College of Surgeons, Ameritech,
and Chicago Title and Trust.
